Article published at the Wilson Journal of Ornithology
on 2009 for a possible new endemic species.  Now
awaiting for additional research.

  • nocturnal
  • small owl with white "eyebrows"
  • dark brown above and white below with dark vertical streaking on the breast
  • unfeathered legs and feet
  • immatures have cinnamon wash instead of gray on the breast
  • Habitat:  forests, wooded areas, forest edges
  • front-facing eyes allow binocular vision
